How to get to Morro de São Paulo

See how to get to Morro de São Paulo:

By air

It is the quickest way. Some air taxi companies offer the service from the airport of Salvador to the airstrip located in Fouth Beach in a private farm. You need to get a landing permit and the trip takes about 20 minutes.

Maritime way

This is the most direct route by sea. Catamarans leave the Salvador Tourist Terminal, which is behind the Mercado Modelo. The trip takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes and there are no stops. However, because it is open sea, there are many waves and this route is only made on days of calm sea and good weather conditions. Otherwise, all companies follow the route below, part of which is done by land.

Land + Sea

The company Cassi Turismo offers a mixed route from the Airport of Salvador or the Tourist Terminal of Mercado Modelo, stopping at the Bom Jardim and Valença. It is a quieter, but more time-consuming journey: the total journey takes about 4 to 5 hours.

With Own Vehicle

In Mprro de São Paulo there is no vehicle traffic, so whoever comes by car must leave it in parking lots or in Salvador, or at the berth in Bom Jardim, from where the boats leave for the island.

Morro de São Paulo is a village on the island of Tinharé, in the archipelago of the same name belonging to Cairu, in Bahia.

It has five beaches named according to the order from the center: First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth, the latter being also called Praia do Encanto.

The First Beach is the smallest, with houses and some inns, good waves where surfers meet.

The Second Beach is the most famous because to the bars and restaurants on the waterfront that promote many parties and luaus, especially in the summer.

Third Beach is quiet and from where the boats leave for the trips around the archipelago, and also where stand up paddle and kayak practitioners have fun.

Right after that is the Fourth Beach full of natural pools formed at low tide by the corals. Almost deserted, it is perfect for calm days.

And Fifth Beach is the most rustic, untouched, already on the border with the mangrove and forms an incredible setting.

From the First to the Fifth beach are about 5.6 km, 1 hour walk along the shore, or on internal trails.

There is also Gamboa beach, well structured to enjoy the day in tents by the sea. There are boats leaving the pier at various times to get there.
